STEEL launches HMRC flash game
13 October 2009
STEEL has launched a new flash based game application for HM Revenues & Customs with the aim of educating and raising awareness within the student population of the potential for tax rebates.
The brief was to educate students about the tax rebates available to them and also encourage a longer term adult relationship with HMRC.
STEEL created solution that engages with the student audience while at the same time delivering factual information about the tax system. The resulting game is “Universilly Challenged”, an interactive flash game which tests students’ general knowledge on a range of topics- from geography to pop culture- in a silly way whilst also providing them with the facts on obtaining a tax rebate.
The game was widgetised so that it could be embedded on any number of websites, though has been specifically targeted at FaceBook and Student Beans users.
Les Hughes, Managing Partner at STEEL, says “the strength of this game lies in its simple share function, which is used across email, blogs and social networks to encourage a genuine following, rather than paid commercial seeding.”
While the campaign is in its early days, initial statistics from the game’s official launch suggest a positive engagement from the student audience and successful delivery of traffic to the main HMRC student hub site.
