Web Designer/Developer
We are currently seeking an experienced Web Designer/Developer to join our dynamic team of highly skilled creatives, strategists, marketers and developers working across our busy and exciting portfolio of top UK brands.
STEEL is one of the UK’s foremost digital communications agencies having been in operation for over 15 years. We cover the complete digital platform specialising in all things digital from PPC (pay per click advertising), SEO (natural search engine optimisation), display advertising, viral marketing, website design and build, eCRM (email marketing), social media and mobile.
You will be responsible for the design, front-end development and maintenance of websites, microsites and other forms of online digital marketing such as social media and html emails.
You will be involved in both the creative and technical aspects of projects; how they work and how they look.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Being involved in project strategy and planning
- Creation of visuals for creative pitching and live projects
- Production of prototypes (from low to high fidelity)
- Design and Layout of websites, microsites and html emails
- Front-end coding (HTML, CSS and JavaScript) of websites, microsites and html emails
- Supporting and maintaining existing websites
- Testing for and, where possible, fixing identified problems
You should have good levels of skill/knowledge in:
- Design, layout and prototyping of websites, microsites and html emails
- Understanding and experience of marcomms, particularly eCRM
- Production of visuals and web-ready artwork (using Photoshop or Fireworks and Illustrator)
- Hand-coding standards-based HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- JavaScript libraries (STEEL prefers jQuery)
You should also:
- Be adaptable and willing to learn new skills and techniques
- Have good interpersonal and communication skills
- Keep up-to-date in advances in technology, particularly in reference to your role and the business as a whole.
In addition, some knowledge or experience of any of the following would be beneficial:
- Back-end development (STEEL has in-house PHP and .NET dev teams)
- Content managements systems (STEEL regularly deploys websites managed with SilverStripe, Drupal, WordPress)
- Adobe Flash/Air/ActionScript
- Search-engine optimization (SEO)
You will normally work 40 hours per week, 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Additional hours may be required to meet deadlines, which could include evenings and weekends. Training will happen on the job, and is likely to include in-house training courses. STEEL rewards excellence and you will be encouraged to contribute to the success of the business at every level.
